Beatrice was born in the late 1860's in northern France.  Her father had died in the Franco-Prussian war, leaving her to be raised by her uncle, an inventor.
Under her uncle's guidance, she developed a love of machinery and mechanics, and begin to design her own gadgets that would make life easier for her family.
In her late teens, Beatrice read books and stories of science fiction, including works like Paris avant les hommes and The Clock That Went Backward that inspired her
to build a time machine of her own.  After years of trial and error, Beatrice finally created the Clockbox, a backpack-mounted personal time machine.
On her first attempt using this new machine, even though she only set it for a couple minutes forward, Beatrice was suddenly flung into the far future.
The reason wasn't an error on her part, but because of interference from the future supervillain Dr. Awkward.  He had considered time travel off and on, but decided
that rather than build one himself, he would steal one from a time traveler.  He instead built a device that acted as a chronal sinkhole, drawing in the first person to
travel through the timestream, which happened to be Beatrice!  She was drawn into the modern day, and her technology might have fallen into the wrong hands
if not for the interference of the heroes of Sunville.  They thwarted Doctor Awkward's scheme and freed Beatrice, but she had no desire to return home just yet.
Now over 120 years in the future, she is fascinated with how different the world has become.  Also inspired by the heroes that saved her, Beatrice wanted to try
her hand at becoming a superhero to use her time-controlling Clockbox to make the world of the future a better place, adopting the name Remontoire as her persona.
The Guardian Angel Agency recruited Remontoire to ensure that her technology stays out of the hands of those who would abuse it, and to give the novice heroine
a guiding hand in the modern world.
